The good birthday poster is usually not made of the best photos. It is made of the photos with the most story attached — the ones that make the recipient say "who sent you that?"
Ask other people first
Message four friends and ask for one photo each. This is the single move that turns a nice present into a memorable one, because half the photos will be ones the recipient has never seen.
Cover more than one year
For a milestone birthday, reach back. A photo from fifteen years ago next to one from last month does more emotional work than eight photos from the same summer.
Include the unglamorous ones
The kitchen, the tent, the bad haircut. Nobody frames their own best-looking photos; they frame the ones that were fun to be in.
Check the faces are big enough
On an eight-photo layout each slot is roughly a postcard. A wide shot where everyone is a distant speck reads as an empty landscape — crop closer or pick a different photo.

The Eight is the milestone layout — a fortieth, a first, a retirement. Eight photos with equal weight means no single person or year dominates, which matters when several people contributed photos.
For a birthday that lands near the end of the year, the year-in-photos layout prints twelve photos with the month names underneath, which reads as an annual report on somebody's life. Considerably better received than it sounds.
How early to order.
Birthdays have a fixed date and no flexibility, which makes them the occasion people most often cut too fine. The arithmetic is simple: 1–2 working days to print, then the shipping window for the route — 2–3 working days within the UK, 5–7 within the EU, 4–6 within the US, 2–5 within Australia. Framed posters can take a day longer, because the box is heavier and travels separately.
So inside the EU, ordering ten days ahead is comfortable and a week is fine. Outside our lab countries, allow three weeks. There is no express option — every poster goes through the same press at the same speed, and we would rather say that than sell you a shipping upgrade that changes nothing. If it arrives damaged
Email us within 14 days of receipt with a photo of the damage and we reprint it free — the replacement ships within 2 working days. If a parcel goes missing, we chase the carrier and reprint.

How quickly can I get a birthday poster?
We print in 1–2 working days and then post it: 2–3 working days within the UK, 5–7 within the EU, 4–6 within the US, 2–5 within Australia. Counting from the moment you order, allow about a week inside the EU and a little more elsewhere. There is no rush option, so the honest advice is to order a week earlier than feels necessary.
What is a good birthday poster for someone who has everything?
One made of their own year. Objects can be duplicated, returned or already owned; eight photos of the last twelve months cannot be bought anywhere, by anyone, including them.
Can I collect photos from other people?
That is the strongest version of this present. Ask four or five friends for one photo each, and the poster ends up containing moments the recipient does not have on their own phone. Any JPG, PNG, HEIC or WebP works, whatever phone it came off.
What size should I order?
A3 (30 × 42 cm) at €49.95 is the usual birthday size — big enough to read across a room, small enough to hang anywhere. A2 at €74.95 if it is a milestone birthday, A4 at €39.95 for a desk. VAT and worldwide shipping are included.
Can I add a name, an age or a message?
Not on the poster itself — we do not print text on the classic layouts, and we cannot print on the back. The year layouts do print a year and month names. If you want a number on the wall, the honest workaround is a card alongside it.
What if I ordered the wrong photo?
Email [email protected] immediately. If the file has not reached the press yet — usually a window of a few hours — we fix it, or cancel and refund in full. Once it is printing we cannot pull it back, because at that point a physical thing exists that was made to your design.
