Sustainability

Paper, ink, frames, packaging — and why made-to-order is the model.

Why is "made to order" more sustainable?

Because nothing is printed until you've ordered it. There's no warehouse of unsold posters waiting to be discounted, returned, or eventually pulped. One poster, one customer, one journey.

What kind of paper do you use?

Enhanced matte art paper, 200gsm, FSC-certified — meaning the pulp comes from responsibly managed forests where new trees are planted to replace the ones harvested.

What inks do you use?

Pigment-based, water-based inks. No solvents. No hazardous chemicals. They meet the standards used by certifications like Oeko-Tex (the textiles standard that filters out toxic substances).

Are your frames sustainable?

Yes — real wood from responsibly managed forests, the same FSC-certified standard as the paper. Painted finish, no plastic backing.

How is my poster packaged?

Rolled posters ship in a recyclable cardboard tube. Framed posters ship in a corner-protected cardboard box. We use biodegradable end-caps and shock-absorbing material wherever practical — and skip plastic wherever we can.

Where is my poster printed?

In Europe, at the press nearest to your delivery address. Shipping a poster from Berlin to Berlin emits less than shipping one from London to Berlin — so the work goes to the closest facility every time.

What happens to leftover prints?

There aren't any. Because each poster is made when ordered, there's no surplus to discount, donate, or recycle. The only paper that gets pulped is the small amount lost to press calibration and the rare misprint.
